Brody Turns 8

I love going to Disney World in September but it is always hard coming back and trying to get back into the groove of school, sports, and then Brody's birthday.  He decided to have his party at the Devon Boathouse this year.  We have always had such a great time going and doing the ropes course and all the other fun stuff they have there so I thought it was a great idea. It was a beautiful evening and even though I had a hard time keeping up with all the kids I know everyone had a great time!
The birthday boy!!!

Charlsie had a great time.  She was busy as a bee that night!
The mini zip line was a big hit with Cooper

This girl wanted to do it all but still has a few inches to grow!
Georgia had no problem keeping up

Hannah and Meg on the zip line
Huston on the swing

All that playing made for some hungry and thirsty kids

Love that smile

He requested an Iron Man cookie cake

Deep conversation

He was pretty pumped about his new rollerblades

The jumping pillows provided lots of fun.  Love the views of downtown

There was a lot of wrestling

The Big Zip Line

 And lots of smiles

I love these two pictures.  Bryson is not a fan of messy faces and I'm almost positive Georgia just wiped hers all over his shirt.

Kinley made sure Dan joined her for all the fun!

Swing overload.  Gran B got her workout that night!
Rock Climbing

Rumble Drop

It took a number of us to light the candles

Thankful for lots of helping hands when it came cake time!

Loved catching my grandparents strolling along the river
He looked like he was having the time of his life!

Pretty girl!

She really wanted to do everything the big kids were doing!!!

Such a fun evening with wonderful friends and family.  And just so I can remember what Brody is like at 8 here are some highlights........

*Still such a sweet boy. He loves his momma and is never embarrassed to give me hugs and kisses when he sees me at school!  He tells me all the time what a great mom I am and how he loves me way more than I could ever love him.
*He loves spending time with his daddy.  He loves to play football with him and stay up late and watch college and NFL football games on TV together.  They still wrestle so much and are way too rough and way too loud.  I still think his favorite thing is when Bryson plays All Time Quarterback in his flag football game with him and all the neighborhood kids.
*He is very into hunting, football, legos, and his DS games.
*Him and Meg fight a lot and wrestle a lot and yell a lot.  But he also protects her and watches out for her and loves her.
*He over thinks pretty much every single thing.  His mind is always turning.  He asks questions about everything and always wants to know more details, how something works, or what I think about something.  If he hears me talking about something he wants to know what I'm talking about and get all the details about a certain situation.  I know this is a great attribute to have but it is exhausting!
*He is all about friends right now.  He loves seeing his friends at school.  He talks about the kids at school so much more than he ever has before.  I love seeing him make friends and it's interesting to try to help him navigate his way when it comes to friendships and how to be a good friend.
*He is very appreciative.  If I buy him a treat or let him do something he wants especially when he knows it's something I'm not real excited about doing he will always give me a big hug and say thank you so much and tell me that I'm the best mom in the whole wide world.  How could you turn that down???
*He likes to put things in order and he wants you to do it too.  Lots of comparing.  Who would you want to win if this team and that team played?  Who do you love more between me and Meg?  What is your least favorite NFL team? What are your top three football teams? Do you love God more than me?  These are all questions he has asked in the last day.  The list could go on an on.
*He is such a fun kid.  He loves going and doing just as much as I do and is always up for an adventure!
*Still crazy about numbers.  Counts everything and if he sees a list of numbers he will just add them up and tell me how much all those numbers are.  These are things I would never even think about doing.
*His teacher told me today that he really gets the giggles.  I love when he gets in stitches about something at home and seeing his cheeks get all red and his smile get so big laughing, but it cracks me up he does this at school too!
*He is reading so well.  He still doesn't enjoy it and I'm not sure I will ever just see him pick up a book and read for his own enjoyment but at least he can read well!
*He still loves to have us do things for him.  I think his love language has to be acts of service, but he actually can do a lot of things for himself.  My latest favorite is that he has started getting food and heating it up in the microwave by himself.  Without reading any instructions on proper times to heat things, etc.  This has worked well for him a couple of times and pretty disastrous other times.  I always appreciate his effort though!

When Brody was a baby I don't think I ever thought being a mom to an 8 year old would be so enjoyable.  He is so fun to be around and each age brings so many wonderful things with it.  I love my sweet silly boy and look forward to seeing what all else year 8 brings our way!!!
