Mother's Day

On Thursday Brody's Gingerbread School had a Mother's Day Tea Party. I knew it was a big deal because they had been talking about it the entire school year. We were told to wear our party clothes and bring our video cameras because there would be a performance. Oh how anxious I was to see what Brody would do. During the Halloween parade at school he wouldn't leave my side and just sat on the sidewalk and watched his classmates parade around in their costumes. When I got to the party Brody greeted me with big hug and showed me to my seat. We all sat around the sun room with our kids in our laps waiting for one mom to show up. She was 15 minutes late and they wouldn't start without her (glad that wasn't me). Each kid introduced their moms and then they went up to the stage. I was so proud that Brody actually left my side and went up front. They sang about 12 songs and although he didn't sing a single word of any song (he did let out a roar at one point during a song) I was excited that he stood in his spot the whole time.....it's progress! They then gave the moms a flower and then served us snack. It was so sweet and I felt so special. All of the teachers talked about how neat it had been to watch him come out of his shell. I agree!

At the Tea Party. The best picture we could get!

Getting ready for the performance.

On Friday morning me and the kids took Bryson's mom (Gran B) out for breakfast for Mother's Day and then went to her house to let Brody play monster trucks on the Wii. After that we headed down to Sulphur. That night mom, Kena, Hannah, Meg, and I went to Ada for dinner and some shopping. Dad and Matt were nice enough to keep the boys while they were busy building a fort. Supposedly Brody got really scared of the thunderstorms. He has never done this before, but according to my dad he was worse than Rosco and that is pretty bad! Saturday was Huston's birthday party. Brody was the only friend that Huston wanted at the party....pretty sweet, huh?? They had a great time and Huston wanted Brody to spend the night so bad. We didn't think it was a good idea and I didn't think Brody would want to. Finally around 9 that night Kena called and said Brody really didn't want to leave. He ended up staying the night without his milk and without his blanket. We were all very impressed!

Getting ready for cake!

Meg made my grandparents day at Huston's Birthday Party. They both have dementia and often times seem confused at family gatherings. She just smiled and talked to them and I think this was the first time I had seen my Papa smile in such a long time. It was so special and meant so much to me. It is amazing the effect babies have on people. My grandma also insists that my kids got their red hair from her grandpa. Maybe the mystery is solved. She also told me that she road in a blimp at the State Fair one time. I would really like to believe both of those things!

Sunday was great. We went to church and then went back and had lunch with the family (that Brody threw up during). My mom had taken Brody to a store in Sulphur to pick out a present for me. She said that he looked for a long time and really checked everything out and then finally pointed at a necklace and earrings and said, "That's what I want". It is actually very pretty and it means so much to me. I could tell he was so proud of himself. Bryson was very thoughtful even though he wasn't here. He sent me an email with various dates and locations and told me to pick one. He then sent me another email saying that he would be taking me to the American Idols Concert at the city of my choice. I am very excited. We went to AI Live a couple of years ago and we both really enjoyed it. So we will be heading to Memphis at the end of July! On our way back home we stopped in Pauls Valley to see Nana and Papa. Brody always enjoys hanging out and playing in their boat and with their dogs. When we got back home there was a package in the mail from Bryson. He had told me not to expect much. When I opened it I couldn't help but smile. It was four tubes of my favorite toothpaste and a sweet card. Why would he get me toothpaste you ask? Well the first time he was out in the Texas Panhandle he came home with this great toothpaste that I just loved. I was so excited until he told me they discontinued it, but that this store in Canadian still has some (obviously the tubes are probably pretty out of date). I don't care though....I loved it. I am very lucky to have a creative husband who always does such thoughtful things. I love being a mom more than anything and I am so thankful for my own mom.

Singing the prayer before dinner. The prayer they sing is set to the Adam's Family theme song. This was about 5 minutes before Brody threw up.
My poor mom. All she wants is a picture of all four of the grandkids. I don't think it is ever going to happen. This was Brody about 15 minutes after he threw up. We thought we could have everyone sneak up behind him and take the picture. Obviously it didn't work too well!
Brody would'nt join me for a picture either. If you haven't noticed, yes I have a new purple shirt and I love it and have already got my money's worth!
On our way home. Completely pooped out!

Wow, Bryson did a great job! He really is a thoughtful with his gifts.

Regarding your post...perhaps the "aging" on us is due to lack of sleep!
