Sugar Bowl

At the beginning of December we got a little bit of a crazy idea and decided to go to the Sugar Bowl.  Our college student from church plays for the Sooners and Brody loves football so much that we thought it would be a fun family trip.  Meg decided she would rather not go and so when we saw Aunt B in Dallas on Sunday we asked if she would want to come with us.  She was super excited!
We started our road trip on New Years Eve and made it to my aunts house in Longview around 11:30 that evening.  We crashed pretty soon after arriving and enjoyed a nice visit with her and her kiddos the next morning.  We didn't get on the road until about 10.  It was so nice having three adults to take turns driving.  I drove most of the way the first night so Bryson and Brook split the rest of the drive to the Big Easy!  Bryson and Brody made a movie cabin and enjoyed Harry Potter!  The drive was perfect and we were so excited when we pulled into New Orleans.  I had never been before and wasn't expecting to like it because of all the negative things I had heard.  I ended up loving it and can't wait to go back.
Our hotel was in a perfect location and so we walked to Jackson Square that night to eat dinner.  The restaurant we chose ended up being really fancy (not what we were planning on) but it was so delicious!
The Saint Louis Cathedral was right down from our hotel and I loved this view when we were walking back to our room!

The next morning we were up early and walked to Café Du Monde to enjoy some yummy beignets!

Brody loved them but wanted to know where the rest of his breakfast was!

We enjoyed walking around doing a little sight seeing!

Saint Louis Cathedral

And I really loved all the street performers!
This dog really knows how to play dead.  He lays like that until he gets a large enough bill.  I'm still trying to decide if this is animal cruelty or not!

Beautiful views!

Such an odd statue that of course you have to take a picture in front of it

The inside of the cathedral was just gorgeous

Our hotel was half a block from Bourbon Street.  So we finally walked down there to see what all the fuss is about.  Now I could see if Bourbon Street was the only place you went in New Orleans why you wouldn't like it.  It was nasty and had way too many souvenir shops and way to many bars.  But we saw it!
We got the call from Rob that him and Cooper were headed to the hotel so we headed back and waited for them.  Brody was so happy to have a buddy to be with for the rest of the trip!

We were all hungry so we headed to Acme Oyster House!

Rob's face says it all.  It lived up to the hype!

After we ate we sent Rob back to the hotel to get some rest after working the night before and we took the boys on a little trolley ride!

And got some popsicles and watched some street performers!  Then all the boys went back to rest while Aunt B and I went out shopping.  I loved all the little boutiques!

Then it was time to get ready for the game!!!
Anxious during the cab ride to the Superdome!

They had a band and games set up outside the stadium.  It was crazy how much colder it was there than it was at the hotel.  Someone started filming Brody while he was doing the football toss and we were all shocked to see if on the jumbotron inside the stadium during one of the time outs.
Rob bought the boys programs and it didn't take long for him to find his favorite player #26!

We got to the stadium so early that we were all very anxious for the game to start.  When it started off not looking so good for OU Brody got so nervous.  We cheered our hearts out and it was honestly the most fun game I have ever been too.

This guy cheered so hard that he fell asleep during the 3rd quarter.  We couldn't believe it!  He slept through all the screaming and chaos!

I woke him up when the confetti started to fall and he couldn't believe OU won!

We walked back to the hotel since there was no cab to be found and these boys crashed hard.

And this is what almost everyone looked like for the drive home.  Such a fun trip!!!
