As I previously mentioned, Brody received tickets to a Dallas Cowboys game from Santa. Christmas was on a Wednesday and the game was scheduled for that Sunday. When he came down with the flu we weren't real sure what we were going to do. Thankfully Tamiflu worked it's magic and by Saturday morning he was feeling so much better. We were also scheduled to get a tour of the stadium on Saturday and stay in a hotel that night. When we caught a glimpse of him doing a hand stand on the couch Saturday morning we agreed that we would head down to Dallas but just take it really easy!
We arrived around 2:00 and went straight to the stadium. This 8 year old doesn't usually get carried around as much as he did that day!
He reluctantly took this picture with me in the cheerleader locker room!
Had to check out his favorite players locker room!
Bryson's favorite was DeMarco Murray
They even got to go up where they do the after game news conference!
Finally going out on the field
We got to see a bit of the cheerleaders practice
And then they let us all on the field. Brody went straight to the end zone!
We saw at least 3 people get engaged on the Star that afternoon. Who knew that was such a popular place to get engaged! We left shortly after this picture and checked into our hotel. We grabbed a bite to eat and then settled into bed. Sunday morning Brody was feeling even better and was super excited about the game. Our tickets said the game started at noon but we learned shortly after eating breakfast that the game really didn't start until 7:30 that evening. Whew....that really messed up our plans. We realized we had an entire day to kill and that we would be getting home so late! Thankfully our hotel was right next to the Grapevine Mills Mall and the first thing we did was catch a 10:00 a.m. showing of Frozen. Then Aunt B drove down from Dallas and met us at Rainforest Café for lunch. We did a little browsing around the mall and then decided to head to the game.
We found a parking spot and quickly realized that the temperature was dropping quickly. I hadn't really prepared for how cold and windy it was. Because it was so cold we decided to stay in the car and watch a movie. Bryson and Brody set up camp in the back seat watching Avengers while I sat in the front seat and wrote thank you notes and read.
We finally scrounged up every piece of warm clothing we could find in the car and started the long walk to the stadium. I started to feel horrible that it was so cold and we had our little boy with the flue out in it.
Dallas tailgating fans take it very seriously!
This was one of many crazy cars we saw!
When we finally made it to the stadium they weren't letting people in yet even though the tickets had said the gates opened at that time. We kept Brody huddled in between us and finally got our tickets scanned only to realize that just let us inside the fence closer to the stadium and not actually in the stadium. We grabbed some hot dogs and then I found the warmest corner by a door for Brody and I to stand and wait in. Finally I noticed they were letting people in to use the restroom and that a door was unlocked. I waited till a guard looked the other way and we snuck in the door and headed straight to the bathroom. We sat in the bathroom floor until the doors officially opened and then we headed to our seats!
Our seats were awesome and it was so fun to watch all the players warm up. This is Dez Bryant.
We even spotted Mike Gundy and his kids!
Michael Vick
He was feeling good and so super excited!
We didn't sit down the entire game. It was so much fun and so loud!
We were sad Tony Romo wasn't playing
It was a super close game that came down to the last play. Unfortunately the Cowboys lost but Brody took it well!
So thankful Brody felt good enough to go to the game. It was such a fun weekend and wonderful memories! We got back on the highway in record time after the game only to get pulled over in Lewisville and capped off our weekend with a $198 ticket. We finally got to my parents house around 2:00 a.m.
