Around 7:00 a.m. on Christmas morning we made it to Sulphur! The big celebration could finally get underway! I am obviously crazy about Christmas and love all of it and I got this way from my parents. They have always both loved Christmas so much and it has always been a very big deal. We have so many wonderful traditions and I am so thankful to be passing them on to my kids!
But first we had to all get some food! Everyone died laughing when Bryson showed up wearing his Grandma's old Christmas sweatshirt and his Salvation Army blazer! He really likes to get in the spirit!
And Bryson started a new Christmas tradition this year by purchasing the Cajun Night Before Christmas. Bumpy had the honor of reading it this year and we all thought it was hilarious. Get a copy.....trust me!
He had quite the fan club while he was reading!
These three were feeling extra sweet that morning!
And these two were so excited they were busting out in songs!
Brody was so pumped about all of his presents. This was the first year that he didn't really get "toys". Kind of sad that he is getting older but it was still so much fun to see how excited he got about all of his sports equipment.
Hannah and Meg were so surprised when they opened their presents to find Taylor Swift concert tickets! We will have to wait until August to go but it will be a blast when we do!
This boy loves his football jerseys! He has a good enough arm on him that I think he has a shot at being the next Sam Bradford!
And Meg got the biggest gift of all. Her Barbie Dream House! She was so excited and that is all she likes to play with now and everytime she plays with it she says, "I wanted this soooo much!"
After presents and some more eating we took it easy. The boys played their video games!
While the girls got the Dream House decorated just right!
Then we all got in lots of snuggle time!
And then somehow I managed to get a really long nap. I am still not sure how that happened but it was just about the most wonderful thing ever after getting up at 3:30 that morning!
After I woke up and joined the rest of the family we did a little soccer ball painting and then the kids were getting antsy.
They had been watching the snow fall all morning and they were beyond ready to get out and play in it. And while I was disappointed that it was nowhere near the "blizzard" they had predicted the kids enjoyed it just as much!
Mimi and Bumpy have the perfect sledding hill right outside their house!
And we were all prepared with enough sleds for everyone!
Bryson and Brody got so good at sledding they good ramp a ditch and would land in the street. A little scary if you ask me!
Meg wasn't 100% sure on sledding by herself!
Gotta make snow angels. This kid is part Eskimo. For 3 days he played out in the freezing temperatures for hours. Most of the time he was with Hannah but half the time he was by himself. He never said it was cold and just had a blast! And no.....he didn't get sick after Christmas either!
Cutest little snow bunny ever!
So thankful these four have each other and that they love each other so much!
Matt and Bryson disappeared for a couple of hours and put Bumpy's new shop to good use. They built a sled and rigged it up to the back of our car.
Brody and Hannah tried it out first. It made me so nervous but they had a blast!
Brody never wanted to stop. Eventually Bryson and Meg rode it with them! The kids crashed pretty early that night and us girls stayed up later watching a movie my mom bought that we used to watch every Christmas when we were little. I had completely forgotten about it but as soon as we started watching it it brought back wonderful memories. The kids and I stayed a couple of extra days while Bryson had to go back home to work. It truly was the best Christmas yet. Everybody was happy and healthy and we loved spending time with everyone relaxing, playing games, sledding, and baking!
