On September 19th my sweet little boy turned 7! Still not sure how we have a kid that old. I refuse to let myself get sad over them getting bigger. I have learned that there are great things that come with every age and whether they are newborn babies or big 7 year old boys, there are things that make it so much fun and so special! Although there are times that I still wish I could hold him like a baby and rock him to sleep I am so thankful to have an energetic 7 year old that I can go on bike rides with, hear him sing "Blue Skies and Rainbows" to me so sweetly that I get tears in my eyes, listen to him read the bedtime story, play fun games with him, listen to him tell me funny stories about his day at school, and hear him tell me all about his dreams when he wakes up in the morning. And the greatest thing is that he still lets me hold him and cuddle with him and lets me smother him with goodnight kisses till he laughs this ridiculously high pitched laugh and declares that if I don't stop he will pee his pants!
On the morning of his birthday we woke to a living room covered in balloons! Meg decided to give him his present early and you can tell he was excited about it!
He requested one of my bacon wrapped egg muffins and he loved when I served it to him with a "7" candle in the middle to blow out!
He spent the rest of the morning before school putting together his new lego toy while keeping warm under the blanket!
That evening when Bryson got home we gave him a new boy's devotional book and a card that was the start of a scavenger hunt. We all hoped on our bikes and headed around the neighborhood and the park to find all of his clues. This was the biggest hit ever. He loved it and I see a yearly scavenger hunt in our future!
The clues him led him back to our attic!
So thrilled with his new Rip Rider!
That night we went to church and celebrated his birthday with our church family and all enjoyed cupcakes. Then we snuck over to Cooper's house (whose birthday was also that day) to exchange presents with them. It was a late night but after baths these two still had enough energy to play in the balloons a bit longer!
We decided to skip the big birthday party and we just let him invite a couple of friends to Jump Zone that Sunday afternoon! I didn't even send out invitations (so unlike me).
Cousin Shawn and Hannah taking it easy!
The Varner and Kite kids certainly got their exercise!
When we arrived back at the house the kids had a ball playing with all the balloons. After eating and way too many kids jumping on the trampoline at one time we decided to do presents!
He had an attentive audience!
Meg thinks Gran B is hilarious!
We decided to do trick candles this year. It was pretty funny to see him work so hard to get them blown out!
And we ended the night with an impromptu concert by these 3. We had a great time celebrating my most favorite little boy ever!
