Bug Week
In my attempt to make this summer a little bit educational in addition to a whole lot of fun, we are doing some theme weeks. Our first theme was Bugs! The kids were excited when they woke up Monday morning and saw that I put together "sensory bins" for each of them!
They were each full of dry beans and bow tie pasta as well as bugs, magnifying glass, bug catchers, tweezers, tongs and scoops. Most everyting was from the Dollar Tree so it was a very cheap form of entertainment and learning.
Miss Meg surprised me by being way more into the bug things than Brody was! Maybe he is getting a little too old to be overly excited about these things???
Getting a closer look
I see you!
A closer look. Obviously nothing too exciting but they loved it and played with the contents multiple times throughout the week!
We also went on a bug hunt! I made up a bug hunt sheet with pictures of the various bugs we could look for and then they got busy trying to catch them!
The walking trail by our house was the perfect place to find lots of bugs! They each found a number of interesting looking bugs and were so proud of them. They loved watching them inside their bug cases! We did other bug related things that week including reading books about bugs and some art projects, but I failed to get those activities on camera!
