Brody Update....

Thought I would post one last Brody update prior to Meg being born. It will be interesting to see how much he changes after she arrives....hopefully not much! We love him just the way he his!

  • Every since he received the Spiderman outfit for Christmas he has officially decided that he is Spiderman when he is playing certain "games". Usually this is when he is playing with his guns. He has also decided that Bryson is Batman and that I am Superman....unless Huston is around and in that case Huston is always Batman. I just love Brody's imagination and watching him act out being Spiderman!
  • The kid is somewhat obsessed with numbers and counting. He is especially focused on the number 3. Anytime he can spot the number 3 he points it out and gets very excited. He is always counting things too....random things. He counts the number of light bulbs in the bathroom every time he goes to the bathroom. He says he learned his numbers from Elmo.
  • He has also become a little obsessed with the pointing out boys versus girls and babies versus big boys/big girls. I am sure this all has to do with Meg's approaching arrival. He constantly says, "Me Brody Barner. Me boy. Me big boy". Mommy a girl....mommy have baby. I just hope we don't run into someone that is a girl/boy, but doesn't look like one. I am not prepared for that if he announces it out loud (as he always does).
  • He also wants to know what every person's name is. Whether it is someone on TV or someone in the doctor's office, etc. It frustrates him that I don't know everyone!
  • Teacher Pam told me today that she was a little sad. Starting to get concerned I asked what was the matter. She said that Brody went to the bathroom today and didn't ask her to help him....he went all by himself. She said she was really proud of him, but that she feels like he doesn't need her anymore! The poor lady....I had no idea that he had been dragging her (and ONLY her) to the bathroom with him every single time for the last 4 months!
  • As I have said in previous posts he doesn't like me to put my arm around him when I am laying down with him, but here lately he has been quite cuddly with me and I just love it. He wants to put his arm around me and has even said a couple of times in the middle of the night, "Hold my hand mommy".
  • Last night he kept saying in his sleep, "I want to take it in a to go box". I think he said it 10 different times.
  • My little sweetie continues to develop some of Bryson's wonderful characteristics. He tells me he is "Sorry" all the time. It is very sweet, but he says it for the most innocent things. He also started saying "Yes Sir" the other day. We did not teach him this at all....so I am not sure where it came from. He said it to me and I explained that to girls you say "Yes Mam" and so he has started saying that sometimes. Unfortunately he has also picked up on some of Bryson's (and probably all guys) grosser habits. The kid farts all the time and he thinks it is hilarious....especially if he can do it while he is in the bathtub with me. Sometimes I think Bryson is setting him up to do things to me!
  • Last week Brody broke over a month long streak that he had going. He hadn't sat on the naughty mat or been in trouble in well over a month. We couldn't believe it. He had just been acting like a perfect angel. Then this weekend (it had to have been the full moon) our perfect angel didn't listen to me and rode his bike out in the street without waiting on me to catch up to him. So the naughty mat had to get used again. Then I think he sat on it a number of times over the weekend. Hopefully now that the full moon has passed he will go back to being an angel again....especially once Meg arrives!

We are getting excited and ready for Meg's arrival, but there is a part of me that is a little sad that these are our last couple of weeks with just Brody. I know it will be wonderful being a family of four, but I also know what a huge transition it will be. We are planning some activities just for the three of us that I know we will all enjoy. We took Brody to the hockey game last week and sat on the 3rd row and he LOVED that. We have the Monster Truck show this coming weekend and of course he will love that. And hopefully the weather will be nice enough that we can go golfing (meaning Bryson and Brody golf and me ride in the cart) one more time. Bryson had a real driver made for Brody and brought it home today. It looks just like the real thing, just extremely small. I can't wait to see Brody try it out!

We have been so blessed with Brody and I can't wait for him to meet his little sister!

Brody is hilarious. Don't let him start apologizing for everything though. Bryson sounds silly sometimes! :)

Hope we can all get together this weekend!
