Why it's great to be Brody Jack's parents...

Bryson and I were recently talking about how much fun it is to be Brody's parents. I always knew I would enjoy being a mom, but I never imagined just how wonderful it would be to witness all of the things Brody says and does and how special it is has been to see him develop from a baby to the little person he is today. And the kid is just so darn hilarious. This I guess I should've expected given who is daddy is, but it still catches me off guard. The most recent things that have left us looking at each other and laughing....

  • When his daddy is frustrating him, does something he doesn't like, or if he simply can't find him he yells really loud, "Bryson Barner". And no, I didn't misspell our last name. Brody thinks that it is Barner. And, it is even funnier because he says it in the most hick accent you can imagine.

  • He has also started to become my little protector. If he thinks Bryson is picking on me or being mean (which of course he really isn't) Brody yells, "Bryson Barner" and then proceeds to go try to beat Bryson up.

  • As he was going to sleep the other night and I was laying next to him, he put one arm up above his head with one finger up and said real quietly, "OOOOOOOOOOU" and then dropped his hand. Just like they do during the kickoffs at the OU football games. Then he opened his eyes and said, "Fireworks". I think this must have been because they shoot fireworks off after OU scores a touchdown. He then closed his eyes and went to sleep.

  • If we walk out of the room that he is in or if he can't find us in the house he walks around yelling our name and then when he finally finds us he says, "I can't hear you".

  • He sits his toys on the naughty mat. Recent toys to have sat on the naughty mat are his Booker T doll that Uncle Rob and Carolina bought him and the dump truck that Uncle Nick got him. Booker T was so bad that Brody sent him to bed.

I also love watching his imagination continue to develop and listening to his conversations. Yesterday he had a conversation with Kennedy from down the street and it was just hilarious how they communicate. It is also so enjoyable to watch Brody fight with Bryson. He has this little fighting face and he shakes his fists. He is like a little UFC fighter the way he kicks Bryson. He has also started to LOVE playing games. His favorite ones right now are the fishing game, don't break the ice, and candy land. I think Brody has made Annie play these games for hours this week! I think I will be going and buying him some other games tomorrow!

He is so excited about Meg and continues to demand that she, "Come out right now". We are excited too, but just not as anxious as Brody! We still have a lot to do, although Bryson did get the room painted this last weekend!

I can't wait to have some of these stories! It's great that you're recording them so you can tell Brody how hilarious he was as a little boy. Sounds like Meg will have an awesome older brother.
