Brody started Kindergarten this year and to say he was excited about it would be a LIE! He had absolutely no desire to go back to school. If he had his choice he would make it be summer year round so he could stay home with me and go swimming and do other fun things. The only thing he was excited about was riding his bike to school. The first day he went in like a champ but then the next few days I felt like we were repeating Pre-K all over again. There were a lot of tears and some screaming and his teacher having to physically remove him from me. I won't like. It was ugly. And everytime I would quickly point my sunglasses over my eyes while still in the building so none of the other moms could see the sad tears filling up in my eyes. But now that we are in are second 9 weeks I can happily report that he LOVES school and is doing fabulous. It took about 5 days and he was like an old pro. In the mornings he jumps out of the car after a quick hug and a kiss, runs in, and almost always stops to turn around and blow me a kiss! He only goes half a day which is just perfect for him right now!
His teacher this year is Mrs. Schall. She has been teaching for quite a while and has kids in High School, which I think is a great fit for Brody. She is very organized and has a very "down to business" personality. I think Brody was a little scared by her sterness in the beginning, but I think he thrives at how structured she has everything. I love how she does homework and I am amazed daily at how much he is learning. He is reading a ton and has gained so much confidence in his writing. He got wonderful remarks at his first parent teachers conference and to date has had a "green bee" (her way of letting us know how they behaved that day) everyday which makes this momma very happy!!!
