Underbite....what underbite???

Last Monday Brody made his first trip to the dentist. The kid is 4 1/2 so obviously he should've already been to the dentist, but with all of his other health issues I never wanted to make him do another thing that wasn't necessary. He had a couple of field trips to the dentist with Gingerbread so I thought this might have been good preparation and our sweet friend Ashley from church is a dental hygentiest at an office in Moore so I figured it was good time to try it out!
It couldn't have gone any better! He was a model patient and opened his mouth great while she cleaned his teeth and even let her do X-Rays. I was so excited when the report showed....NO CAVITIES! Brody was excited because Ashley said he would get to pick something out of the treasure chest and I was excited that no more trips would be needed and no more money would need to be spent. WRONG!

Dr. Richardson took one look at Brody's underbite and his jawline and said that he would need to see an orthodontist. And not in 7 years....on May 3rd! Obviously they aren't going to be doing anything just yet but that they like to keep an eye on things and there is gradual things they can do along the way so he won't have to wear braces for as long. Poor Brody. We always knew he had an underbite but didn't think it was any big deal. We naively thought he would grow out of it and thought it was kind of cute. Oh well! Could be worse!
On another note....I just love my sweet little boy! He has done so many things here lately that I think are so cute. He asks questions all the time about God and Jesus. He will close his lips tightly and pretend like he is saying something and then will say, "Can God here me when I talk like this?". He also likes to ask if certain people are stronger than God. Is Incredible Hulk stronger than God? And wants to know a specific number of how strong God is and then a specific number of how strong we are. He talks about "God's world" and will ask if all the people in God's world can come to his birthday party (yes....his birthday party is an everyday subject even though it isn't until September). Before bedtime we pray and he always says one prayer, then I say a prayer, and then he wants to say another prayer. He always prays for Hannah, Huston, Ashton, Alyssa, Jessi (the cousin he has met twice who lives in New Hampshire), and his other cousin Carysn. And he prays for his sister and his brothers???? And prays for God and Jesus and the enemy and usually Spongebob and tonight he said Amen and then said he forgot something and said, "Thank you for bowling allys". Alrighty!
I have had a couple of proud mommy moments lately which are always nice. First, I had one of his teachers tell me how good he acts at school and that he always listens when they ask the class to do something. This was just music to my ears. Although he may not always do this at home he makes me happy to know that he listens to his teachers! And Brody is on his second round of swim lessons at the Y. The first round he was a pike (the lowest level) and then got moved up to an eel. He is now swimming on his own and putting his head in the water for short amounts of time. I am sure he will still be sporting a lifejacket for a while but I was pretty excited that he is getting the hang of it and really enjoys it!
I can't wait to spend all summer with the kids. I know we will have so much fun!
