Meg Turns 6

Meg couldn't have been more excited on the day she actually turned 6!  And although I would love to keep her little I love watching her grow and change too!
She has such a pleasant personality.  She is independent and helpful and always finds ways to entertain herself no matter where she is at.  I am not sure I've ever heard her say, "I'm bored!"  Her creativity and imagination always keep her busy!

She has absolutely loved Kindergarten and thrives in the school environment.  She loves reading and playing with friends and all of the work they do!

She is so affectionate!  She loves laying on my belly and cuddling and she loves us to scratch her back.  She is very sensitive.  She can easily be consumed with tears when she even thinks she has done something wrong or you gently correct her.  Lots and lots of tears for even the littlest things!

She loves expressing her emotions!  She usually writes them in notes and then hands them to us.  She recently started her own behavior system for our family using a stick system her teacher uses.  She takes our sticks away if she thinks we have been bad and when all our sticks are gone we have to pay her money.  Ha!  She is the only one who hasn't lost any sticks yet!

She is always, always, always writing or drawing or creating something!  The amount of paper we go through is insane!  She doesn't play with toys at all at home except for balls that she throws around and her outdoor ride on toys!  It's so strange to me that a kid her age doesn't like to play with toys at home but that's just her.  She is unique!

She has recently become more interested in fixing her hair.  She worked so hard to learn how to do her own ponytail and she does it awesome!  She typically combs and puts frizz ease gel in her hair each morning and then pulls it back in a pony!  I loved seeing how proud she was of herself!

She recently started taking guitar lessons and loves it!  She is picking it up really quick and she constantly asks when she gets to go back.  This last semester she also took a few arts classes that she loved and did rock climbing with Brody for a month.  She was so good at rock climbing even if it wasn't her favorite activity.  She is incredibly strong.  She stayed on her same soccer team for another season and it was so fun to watch her play again.  Her top skill is being able to kick it super far!

A couple of months ago all of her reading skills finally clicked together and she started being able to read really good.  I have been amazed to watch her pick out books from the library that are 2nd grade level and read them with ease.  And she really enjoys reading.  She will choose that over watching TV or playing the Xbox with Brody often.  I hope she continues to have a love of reading!

She continues to be a weird eater.  She likes very plain and bland things.  Yogurt, string cheese, eggs, waffles, mac and cheese, bananas, and strawberries are her favorite things!  And, of course, ice cream!  She has started to be more willing to try new foods but typically she doesn't like them.  And she always will eat a number of bites of whatever I cook but rarely does she ever really love anything or finish all of her dinner.  And she never complains about being hungry.  Yes, kind of strange!

I sure love my sweet little girl and I have so much fun with her.  She's the perfect mix of girly and tom-boy.  She loves to play in the dirt just as much as she likes to have her fingernails painted!

She went to school on her actual birthday and her best friend Paizley ate lunch with us!

Then her little face lit up when everyone was singing Happy Birthday to her!

That evening Brody had basketball practice and we had church but we did sneak off for a bit and painted at Be Wild for Art.  She painted Annie and Rosco a new bowl!  And that night we gave her her birthday present.  Taylor Swift concert tickets!  She was very excited!
