Allergies

Back in January after a lot of thinking I decided to have Brody do allergy testing again.  We need this once when he was three to see if he had any allergies to food that might be causing his stomach problems.  Nothing significant came of it, except that he had a slight treenut allergy.  During the months leading up to January I had noticed that he had horrible reactions to cats, eyes swelling and itching.  He also had horrible stuffy nose and sneezing.  And a couple of times he had skin reactions to food although I couldn't pinpoint what it was and it never lasted long.  I considered all these things to be very minor reactions but thought I just have him tested to be on the safe side.    I was not expecting for these type of reactions......
The second the nurse put the stuff on him he immediately started itching, swelling, and turning red.  Much different than last time!
This was about 5 minutes in
And this was about 15 minutes afterwards.  He was so miserable.  But after 3 hours and 30 minutes in Dr. Haymore's office we found out that Brody is allergic to almost every type of tree and grass, dogs, cats, soy, sesame seeds, hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts.  I was so shocked.  We followed up with blood tests to confirm the skin tests and the one we have to be most careful with is sesame seeds.  We have tried to eliminate soy and sesame from his diet and we have seen dramatic differences in his stomach.  You wouldn't think soy and sesame would be hard to avoid, but in case you didn't know soy is in basically everything you eat!  Dr. Haymore thinks Brody has other stomach issues but that he is a small piece to the puzzle and one that is easy to making my little man feel much better!
