9 month check-up
Miss Meg went for her 9 month check-up on Monday. It was actually the fourth time in a week that she had been to see a doctor. As you can imagine....it has not been a fun week at the Varner house! To make a long story short she started getting fussy last Sunday and I thought it was her teeth. Then Monday the ear pulling and fever started. I took her to Urgent Care and sure enough she had another ear infection. Put her on antibiotics which usually clears it right up but not this time. Her fever hung around between 101 and 102.8 until FRIDAY night. Which means she was pretty much miserable. I missed an entire week of work and a whole lot of sleep. On Wednesday I took her to her regular pediatrician because I couldn't get her fever down and he said that her fever would be gone by Thursday and if she wasn't better by Friday to bring her in again. So on Friday they started her on another antibiotic. She basically went without eating or nursing from Friday to Sunday. I took her to the on call doctor on Sunday because I was so worried about her and the antibiotic was tearing her stomach up. They wanted to give her an antibiotic shot. I got frustrated and walked out (I should say stormed out but I managed to contain myself and not slam any doors so therefore I will claim I walked out). So yesterday the doctor said her ears look worse than they did last week and so therefore we will be going to see an ENT doctor and get tubes in. This is great news. I am so relieved for Meg. She has always been my angel baby but over the last two month with four ear infections I felt like someone had stole my angel baby and I want her back! I know she will be so much happier and it seems like it is such a minor procedure. The bad news is that they can't get her in until December 8th for the consultation. I plan on calling everyday to seeing about cancellations and dropping in a couple of times. Surely once they see this precious face they won't want her to wait and be miserable, right???
The doctor thought everything else looked great. She does still have the knot under her tongue that is called something that includes the word mucus. The ENT will have to look at that as well and determine if it needs to be removed. I guess it can get in the way of her swallowing and talking. She weighed about 21 lbs and was in the 77% for her weight and 47% for her length.

Aww, poor baby and poor mama. I will be praying that she'll get relief soon. Ear troubles are absolutely no fun at all.
I am so sorry you all have been dealing with all that! Sounds like you have a plan, though! Keep us posted on how she's doing! Thinking of you all and hoping she feels better real soon!!
Whe Ally was on antibiotics for weeks at a time for ear infections we started adding a powdered form of "Lactobacillus acidophilus" that can be mixed with whatever food they like. It is sold at most health food stores, and many grocery stores. It was a "tummy saver" for sure!! This helped better than the "brat" diet that was recommended to us.
