A little too fair??

So this week I started to wonder what the world has come to in regards to everything having to be fair for kids. I understand we hate for kids to have their feelings hurt and so on, but I think schools and coaches have gone to the extreme. Two examples that happened this week:
Huston the T-Ball Player: Huston started his sports career this week at his first t-ball game. We all knew Huston would be good. He has been able to hit a t-ball since before his second birthday and he is just a natural athlete. Plus...he has been so excited about playing ball. Well my sister called me after his first game on Tuesday and informed me that he was really good. According to the coach....a little too good. I guess he was getting the ball too much and not giving the other kids a chance to get it. So they moved him to a different position. That didn't work and so they told him not to go get the ball and at one point Matt had to hold him back and let the other kids have a chance. In my opinion this is ridiculous. Those other kids don't even care. I am sure they are more interested in picking dandilions. Now Huston is a little confused as to what to do when he is out there. Very sad in my opinion.
This is Huston before the coach told him not to go and get the ball
And this is him afterwards. It breaks my heart!
Brody the egg hunter: Brody had his Easter party at Gingerbread Thursday (see adorable pictures below). I went to watch and help hide the eggs with the other moms. Brody was loving picking up the eggs and all of the kids were having such a good time. Teacher Pam came over to him to check his basket and told me that he had picked up too many eggs and that he would need to go and re-hide them. What?? Each kid could only get four eggs that way it would all be fair. So there were kids who were playing on the slides and swings and didn't care a thing about hunting eggs and so they made them go hunt eggs until they all got four. I don't think the kids would've even realized who had more eggs. Ridiculous! Gingerbread is not the only school that is like this. The same thing happened at Huston's daycare.
If this is how things are going to continue to be throughout Brody's school years I am going to have a very big problem. We will be raising a bunch of sissy kids. I will now step off of my soap box and move on to pictures of my little cuties! I think you are right Kendy...I am a little opinionated!
My favorite picture of Meg. She continues to be a happy little thing. She is really starting to "talk" to us and gives the sweetest little smiles.
Her hair looks so red in pictures! We have had a lot of comments this week about Meg's weight. Common comments are: Her cheeks sure are big, she doesn't miss many meals, she must sure like to eat, and, my favorite, she sure is a fat thing.

Remember Ralphie in "A Christmas Story" when he had to wear the bunny pj's? Brody reminds me of him in this picture. They both look less than thrilled!

Brody is loving his little sister these days. He has started to play with her. One day he played with her a little too much when he decided to give her a little push in her swing. I had left them alone while I went to get dressed and when I came back he had her a rocking in that swing. I explained that we can't push her that high. His response, "She wasn't crying mom". He also is quite protective of Meg. Huston accidently hit (not hard) Meg on the check while we were on our way to Sonic. She started to cry and Brody kept saying, "You hurt her" and Huston would say, "No I didn't". And this went on and on until Brody said, "You did too" and then slapped Huston. They then had a knock down drag out fight in the car. Kena tried to break it up and couldn't and it ended with me yelling as loud as I could and Brody in tears.

It was so fun to watch them all running to find the eggs. Or at least that is what I thought Brody was doing. He actually spotted me at the park and was running to me. Isn't that so sweet??

This has also been a big week for us in the sleep department. Meg slept her longest stretch....9 hours! I just can't get over how she does that. It is amazing to me, but I guess it is what most normal babies do! And Brody has started to lay down by himself for naps and bedtime. This may not seem like a big deal....but it is HUGE for me. This gives me 2 hours of my life back everyday. Don't get me wrong, I love laying down with him and cuddling....but it had started to take so long for him to go to sleep. I got fed up one night and told him we had to do something different. I developed a sticker chart and bribed him by telling him if he did it for 5 nights he could go to Wal-Mart and buy whatever toy he wanted. I am sure he will buy a monster truck! He has even been doing it while we are at my parents. I think we are on the path to eventually getting rid of milk at night and for him to stay in his bed all night. I can see full nights of sleep in my near future. Gotta love positive thinking, right??

Meg getting attention from her cousins. Hannah asked if it was ok if she just played with Meg instead of holding her. Kena said yes and so out Hannah came with the Barbies. I think Meg liked them!

In addition to playing Barbies with Meg, Hannah decided to put a little jewelry on her.

Bryson is still in the Texas Panhandle. It will be 3 weeks tomorrow. We miss him and I know he misses us. I am crossing my fingers that he will be back by Wednesday. Then on Friday we are heading to Tyler, Texas to see our friends Wade and Whitney and their two boys. We can't wait! Me and the kids have been enjoying our time in Sulphur and are looking forward to a big family get together tomorrow. I am sure more pictures will be coming soon!

I love your opinions! I feel the same way about competition. Bailey could only get a set number of eggs so it was fair.

I'll pray for Bryson to come home soon!

Ah yes, the joys of organized sports, schools, religions, educations. . . Fairness equals boredom in my opinion!

Love the bunny ear pics!
