Yellowstone Adventure Day Three

After all the walking the day before we were a little worn out but we managed to get up and around and grab a quick breakfast and be on the road by 9:00.  This day we headed to the Northeast Corner of Yellowstone including the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone as well as Lake Yellowstone (on the east side of Yellowstone) and then up to the Lamar Valley area!

We went to the Canyon Visitor Center first and it was super nice.  It had a great educational center as well as the best gift shop/restaurant and very helpful rangers.  It was by far the best area that we visited in the park.  I think it would be super fun to stay around that area!
First stop was a hike down to see the Upper and Lower Falls!

We all got pretty excited as we hiked down and could see little glimpses of the river and the falls!

The trail zig-zagged down and they had nice stops to take pictures and rest!

Meg certainly took advantage of those rest spots!

The amount of water and how forcefully it was flowing was absolutely amazing!

We spotted this osprey nest!
And Brody took this amazing picture of it.  We couldn't believe how good it was!

This was one of my favorite stops on the whole trip!

As we drove from place to place we got really lucky that day and saw a ton of animals!

We loved watching these elks!  And you can see how blue the sky is in the picture.  That is the one thing I kept commenting on over and over on the trip was just how beautiful and blue the sky is!

This one ended up getting so close that I made everyone go to the car!

We drove around to different paths and viewing spots of the falls!  It was such a fun day!

But boy did these two get tired of walking up the steep steps!

Herds of buffalo like these in Lamar Valley were absolutely everywhere!  They say that there are more elk than any other animal in Yellowstone but buffalo are definitely the animal you see the most!

We also stopped and saw the Sulfur steam pots.  There were a lot of walking trails around them but we skipped that since everyone was tired!

This was our view as we headed south to Lake Yellowstone!

Brody is an amazing animal spotter and spotted these.  We stopped and the two of us got a closer look!

They had a good time goofing off around Lake Yellowstone and we ate a really great lunch in the Lake Yellowstone cafeteria!
Made another call to Bryson!

Another viewing spot of the falls!

And of the Grand Canyon

At the Lake Yellowstone gift shop Brody bought a walking stick.  And we didn't get one for Meg and it turned into a huge argument.  There were more fights over walking sticks (we eventually found Meg one) than anything else the whole trip.  So my travel tip....don't buy your kids walking sticks unless you want them turned into swords and used to trip each other and poke each other!

Made a stop to see another falls!

This day ended up being our most tiring day.  We tried to fit too many things into one day and we were absolutely exhausted by the end of it!  But it was the most fun days as well.  We saw elk, buffalo, mule deer, a wolf ran in front of our car, badgers, and an osprey!
