Colorado Springs Vacation....Post 1

At the end of July we were so excited to head to Colorado Springs for our big summer vacation! We were ready for the mountain air and cooler temperatures!!! Mimi and Bumpy joined us for our vacation and we all had a great time. For a number of different reasons a few of us flew and a few of us drove. The car riders (Bumpy, me, and Brody) headed out on a Wednesday afternoon. The ride couldn't have gone better and Brody was perfect passenger. We made it to Dumas, Texas and decided to call it a night. We had dinner at a hole in the wall restaurant and then found a hotel. Brody was happy that it had a swimming pool!
The next morning we headed out around 9. We were so happy when around lunchtime we made it to Trinidad, Colorado and stopped for lunch at a local pizza place. Brody loved watching them cook our pizza over the wood fire.

Bumpy and Brody headed outside while I waited around for the check and I caught a few cute pictures of them. It was so fun for Brody to get to spend so much time with his Bumpy and they were pretty cute together!

We walked around downtown and enjoyed the beautiful weather then decided to hit the road. Brody loved the rest of the drive seeing how the mountains kept getting bigger and bigger and we also had a pretty amazing lightening show to keep us entertained!

We got to the hotel, checked in, and then walked around to check out all the amazing ameneties. Then we anxiously awaited the arrival of the flying bunch! I had missed my baby girl and I was so happy to see their rental car pull into the hotel. We enjoyed a great dinner at the Phantom Canyon Brewing Company that night and a cold late night swim. Then called it a night!

The next morning the kids loved playing out on the balcony before we headed to the North Pole! The North Pole is an amazing amusement park perfect for little kiddos. It was very reasonably priced and provided 5 or more hours of wonderful entertainment for everyone! I would highly recommend it!

An amusement park with this amazing view is my kind of place. No matter how many times I visit the mountains I am always in awe of their beauty.

Neither of them wanted to see Santa but they did want to hop on his sleigh!

Mimi and Bumpy enjoyed their ride

Brody liked the stroller a whole lot more than Meg did

Absolutely beautiful view

Meg was excited that she was 36 inches. She basically could ride everything there all by herself!

Brody loved controlling the jet and how high and low it went

The boys liked their ride too

Meg debated on riding a roller coaster with Mimi but wouldn't sit down so she decided to sit by me instead

It takes a lot of concentration to drive this car

Of course he picked the motorcycle

Meg saw an older kid do this and so for the rest of the day she tried the hands in the air approach

She is definitely our little daredevil. She wanted to ride this thing and so I agreed. She loved it and left me feeling nauseous and dizzy. It swung us so high and we were all over the place!

Whee!!!

One of my favorite pictures! Meg loved every ride but this little boat ride. It was so sweet watching Brody tried to comfort her! He is such a sweet boy!

She rode the carousel a few times!

This is where Meg rode the entire day!

Meg had to stop at the Petting Zoo. She loved the deer but just couldn't get up the courage to let them eat out of her hands. Bumpy and I had to do that part!

We had a fabulous time at the North Pole! On our way back to the hotel we took a little drive through the Garden of the Gods and decided that we had to add that to our list of things to do the next day.
